RECENT TRENDS IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY Introduction: The construction industry is constantly evolving, with new technologies, materials, and practices shaping the way we design and build structures. In this article, we will explore some of the recent trends that are making a significant impact on the construction industry. Green Building Practices Sustainable construction techniques are gaining prominence. Use of renewable energy sources such as solar panels and wind turbines. Integration of energy-efficient systems and materials for reduced environmental impact. Emphasis on recycling and waste reduction. Prefabrication and Modular Construction Off-site construction methods are becoming more popular. Prefabricated components and modules are manufactured in controlled environments. Reduction in material waste and increased efficiency. Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Utilization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for enhanced project visualization and collaboration. 3D mod
INTRODUCTION: COLUMN : Column is a vertica l member which is subjected to Axial compression load. TYPES OF COLUMNS: 1. ACCORDING TO MATERIAL: a) Post : A wooden member which is subjected to axial compressive loads is called a post. b) Stanchion : A built-up structural steel member which is subjected to axial compressive loads is called a Stanchion. c) Boom : The main compressive member in a jib crane is known as Boom. d) Strut : An inclined steel member which is subjected to compressive forces is called as a Strut. 2. ACCORDING TO SLENDERNESS RATIO: a) Long Column : A column whose slenderness ratio is greater then 120, then it is called a Long Column. b) Short Column : A column whose slenderness ratio is less than 32, then it is called a Short Column. c) Intermediate (or) Medium Column : A column whose slenderness ratio is in between 32 & 120, then it is called a Medium Column. 3. ACCORDING TO LOADING CONDITION: a) Axial Column : If the load acting on the column exactly passes thr
